I've had to be strong and forcibly stow my soft pastels. I have several printmaking projects that I dearly wish to get to but find I've been distracted by the quickness and immediacy of playing with pastels. Two pieces from this week...

top: 'Truchas Adobe with Tin Roof', soft pastel on Wallis paper, 9.5"x7.5"
bottom: 'Cactus Shadows', soft pastel on Wallis paper, 7"x5"
For sale here.

Wow, Diane, those are gorgeous. Pastel is so rich and captures the deep color of the southwest so well. Beautiful!

Thanks, Annie... I find there is a lot of transfer of design from the way I work with pastels and monochromatic printmaking. The cactus pastel started out as a color study for a multi-plate relief... Maybe I'll do it one of these days!
