'Sunrise' ~ 'Salida del sol'

I find it incredible that 3 months have gone without posting here. I've been way too busy with studio work, woodcut deadlines, and family visits. This little oil painting was started early one morning on my porch, looking east toward Culebra and distant St. Thomas. The morning sky is ever changing and always beautiful with the glow of sun silhouetting palms and yagrumo trees.


The painting is now at the Maji Lina Gallery in Palmer (Rio Grande), which is having their grand opening this Saturday. Hopefully it will find it's way into someone's heart soon.

Me parece increible que hayan pasado 3 meses sin escribir algo aqui. He sido demasiado ocupada con trabajo en el taller, los plazos de varios grabados, y visitas de familia. Este oleo pequeno fue empezado una madrugada en la veranda, con vista al este a Culebra y San Tomas en la lejania. El cielo por la manana siempre cambia y es bellisimo con el brillo del sol detras de las palmas y los yagrumos.


La pintura ya esta en la Galeria Maji Lina en Palmer (Rio Grande), que tiene su apertura formal esta sabado. Ojala que encuentra un duenos pronto que le tiene carino.

Ayer fue el anochecer desde nuestro veranda, hoy tienen un ejemplo del premio del madrugador. Con la llegada de verano no veo la salida del sol con tanta frequencia... pero el cielo del Caribe es siempre una inspiracion.

Yesterday it was the sunset from our porch, today is an example of the prize for the early bird. With summer's arrival I don't see the sunrise as often... but the Caribbean sky is always an inspiration.
